Project Overview

The Macquarie Park Medical centre is a all-new medical practice located in a new residential and shopping village precinct called Lachlan’s line in the vicinity of North Ryde.
The new practice was to be positioned in a quite narrow and long multistorey tenancy, therefore a challenge for the design was creating not only a functional medical centre layout but also providing a spacious feel and strong connection and flow between floors via interconnecting stair.
An architectural feature of the building is its large, glazed façade that wraps the corner situated suite, a main aim of the design was to take in the vast urban and parkside surrounding views and importantly utilities the immense natural light available to help promote a sense of wellbeing and calm.

Project Brief

The overall brief and design was to create a brand new and inviting family medical hub inclusive of services of allied health facilities. The ground floor entry space being quite compact and limited in size, we were creatively and cleverly able to incorporate a pathology clinic under the stair with a pathology waiting area wrapping around the adjacent lift lobby walls off the main street entry.
As one approaches the first floor by either the stairs or lift, they will immediately enter and greeted by the main reception and waiting. The irregular shaped space of the first floor allowed us to create a segmented but spacious and airy waiting area overlooking the nearby park and playground. The large angled custom reception desk of warm honey timber tone and crisp edge lit signage for 3 – 4 staff is flanked either side by 2 waiting zones with flexible seating.
Directly off the reception waiting are the new patient and staff amenities followed by a 3-bed treatment room before leading on to a centralised spine of consult rooms. The main thoroughfare also facilitates access to a 2-bed physio space, 2 dental surgeries including serialisation room including a dedicated-on site Radiology centre with ultrasound rooms, CT scan and Xray facilities.

Project Innovation/Need

Evoke were also given opportunity to undertake the branding strategy for the new medical practice. Working closely with our client we developed a refreshing teal accented logo. The pms palette, font and logo form cohesively were carried into the fitouts colour scheme and inspired the overall fresh yet calming look and feel of the space, finishes and design. Way finding was also a strong focus for the 2-tiered space with branding traits being carried through to provide consistency, vibrancy and flow.
