The project brief centred on creating a welcoming, highly engaging environment for both patients and staff — a space that challenged the typical expectations of a local GP clinic. Rather than a conventional waiting room, the design envisioned a lobby-style lounge experience, complete with integrated tea and coffee facilities to encourage comfort and relaxation.
A key design challenge for the Mitchelton site was integrating an internal lift into the existing building to provide accessible entry for patients arriving from the carpark. Several design options were explored to identify a solution that worked seamlessly with both the carpark layout and the GP clinic access upstairs. The final design balances functionality and flow, ensuring accessibility without compromising the overall aesthetic or patient experience.
