Located within the Beeliar Village precinct in Western Australia, The Village Vet was established as a new, community-focused veterinary practice designed to provide compassionate, high-quality care for pets and their owners. The clinic was envisioned as a welcoming local facility where animals could receive expert treatment in a calm, supportive environment, reflecting the practice’s commitment to personalised care and a fear-free approach to veterinary services.

This project involved the design and delivery of a start-up veterinary practice with a strong focus on achieving an efficient, functional, and welcoming environment within a tightly controlled budget. The brief required a carefully considered design approach to maximise the available building footprint while still delivering a high-quality clinical facility that supports both staff workflow and animal wellbeing.

The facility includes two consultation rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, and an open clinical treatment area incorporating both wet and dry treatment tables. The layout was thoughtfully planned to ensure that each space could operate effectively while maintaining clear circulation and visibility within the clinic. Efficient use of space was essential to ensure all required clinical functions could be accommodated without compromising comfort or usability.

The design was guided by both WELL principles and a fear-free approach to veterinary care. These considerations informed the material selection, spatial planning, and overall atmosphere of the practice, with the aim of reducing stress for animals, owners, and staff.

Soft, muted tones and calming finishes were incorporated throughout the space to create a warm and reassuring environment. The result is a carefully resolved veterinary clinic that balances practicality, wellbeing, and thoughtful design, providing a supportive environment for high-quality animal care.
