Cedar Mountain Vet Referral is a specialist veterinary centre in Perth dedicated to advanced surgical care and rehabilitation for complex animal cases. Led by Dr Taka and home to Perth’s first board-certified veterinary surgeon, the practice provides highly specialised referral services supported by integrated rehabilitation facilities.

The project brief called for the creation of a purpose-built referral facility that delivers seamless care for animals from diagnosis and surgery through to recovery and rehabilitation. The facility was designed to incorporate a range of specialised veterinary clinical spaces that support advanced surgical and diagnostic procedures while prioritising animal welfare.

Key features include three consult rooms, two fully equipped surgical theatres, and advanced imaging technology including X-ray and a CBCT machine. Rehabilitation facilities were also integrated into the design, including a water treadmill to support post-operative recovery and ongoing treatment programs.<br /> <br /> <br />

Operating under a fear-free model of animal care, the design carefully considered the experience of both animals and their owners. The layout and spatial planning aim to minimise stress while supporting efficient clinical workflows for veterinary staff. Consultation, treatment, surgery, and recovery areas are thoughtfully arranged to provide a calm, controlled environment while maintaining high clinical functionality.
